RETURNS & REFUNDS POLICY
Last updated: 30 August 2026
About This Policy
This Returns & Refunds Policy applies to products and services supplied by U Sign Pty Ltd, trading as U Signs (“U Signs”, “we”, “us” or “our”).
Our products include customised signage, printed products, fabricated signs, display products, hardware and related installation or production services.
This policy is intended to operate alongside the Australian Consumer Law. Nothing in this policy excludes, restricts or modifies any consumer guarantee, right or remedy that cannot lawfully be excluded, restricted or modified.
Australian Consumer Law
Products and services supplied by U Signs may come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law.
Depending on the circumstances, customers may be entitled to a repair, replacement, refund, cancellation or compensation where a product or service fails to meet an applicable consumer guarantee.
The appropriate remedy depends on factors including whether the problem is major or minor, whether it can be fixed within a reasonable time and whether the customer contributed to the problem.
Change-of-Mind Returns
U Signs does not generally provide refunds, exchanges or credits where a customer:
- Changes their mind.
- Finds a similar product or service at a lower price elsewhere.
- No longer wants or requires the product.
- Selects the wrong product, size, material, colour or quantity.
- Provides incorrect measurements, wording, artwork or project information.
This change-of-mind policy does not affect any rights available under the Australian Consumer Law where goods or services fail to meet an applicable consumer guarantee.
Custom and Personalised Products
Most signage and printed products supplied by U Signs are manufactured or printed specifically for the customer.
Once artwork has been approved, materials have been ordered or production has begun, custom and personalised products cannot normally be cancelled, returned or refunded because of a change of mind.
This restriction does not apply where the product has a problem that gives the customer a remedy under the Australian Consumer Law.
Order Cancellations
A request to cancel an order must be made in writing as soon as possible.
If cancellation is requested before production begins, U Signs may agree to cancel the order. We may deduct reasonable costs already incurred, including artwork preparation, administration, purchased materials, third-party charges and other work completed for the order.
Once artwork is approved, materials are ordered or production begins, cancellation may not be possible. If U Signs agrees to a cancellation after that point, the customer remains responsible for reasonable costs and work already incurred.
Nothing in this section limits any cancellation right that applies under Australian law.
Artwork Approval and Customer-Supplied Information
Customers are responsible for carefully checking all artwork proofs before approval, including:
- Spelling, grammar and contact details.
- Dimensions, scale and quantity.
- Colours, layout and image placement.
- Logos, trademarks and supplied content.
- Installation location and site information.
Where the finished product accurately matches the customer-approved proof, U Signs is not responsible for an error contained in that approved proof or in information supplied by the customer.
If U Signs manufactures a product differently from the approved proof, quotation or agreed specifications, we will assess the matter and provide an appropriate remedy where required.
Colour Reproduction
Colours displayed on computer screens and mobile devices may differ from printed or manufactured colours. Colour appearance can also vary between materials, printing methods, lighting conditions and production batches.
Where accurate colour matching is important, customers should provide a Pantone reference or approved physical colour sample before approving the artwork.
U Signs will make reasonable efforts to achieve an appropriate colour match, but minor variations that are reasonably expected from the relevant material and production process may not constitute a defect.
This section does not exclude any right where the finished product is significantly different from an approved sample, description or agreed specification.
Damaged, Faulty or Incorrect Products
Please inspect products as soon as reasonably possible after collection or delivery.
If a product appears damaged, faulty, incomplete or different from the order, contact us promptly and provide:
- Your name and order or invoice number.
- A description of the issue.
- Clear photographs or videos showing the product and the problem.
- Photographs of the packaging where transit damage is suspected.
- Details of how the product was stored, handled or installed.
Prompt notification helps us investigate the issue and make any claim with a freight provider. However, a failure to notify us within a particular number of days does not remove any right that cannot lawfully be excluded.
Assessment of Claims
U Signs has the right to reasonably assess a product or service before determining the appropriate remedy.
We may request photographs, additional information, return of the product or access to inspect installed signage. Customers should not dispose of, modify, remove or arrange third-party repairs to the product before giving U Signs a reasonable opportunity to inspect it, unless urgent action is reasonably required for safety or to prevent further damage.
We may request proof of purchase, such as an invoice, receipt, order confirmation or bank transaction record.
Minor Problems
Where a product or service has a minor problem that can be fixed within a reasonable time, U Signs may choose to:
- Repair the product.
- Replace the product.
- Re-supply or correct the service.
- Provide a refund where appropriate.
The remedy will be provided without charge where required by the Australian Consumer Law.
Major Problems
A problem may be major where, for example, the product is unsafe, substantially different from its description or approved sample, cannot be used for its normal or disclosed purpose, or cannot be fixed easily within a reasonable time.
Where there is a major failure under the Australian Consumer Law, the customer may be entitled to reject the product and choose a refund or replacement, or retain the product and seek compensation for the reduction in value.
For services with a major failure, the customer may be entitled to cancel the service contract or seek compensation as permitted by law.
Returns and Return Costs
Please contact U Signs before returning any product. We will provide instructions regarding inspection, return, collection or another appropriate assessment method.
Large, installed, bulky or difficult-to-return products should not be returned without prior arrangement. Where required by law, U Signs will arrange an inspection or collection.
If an assessment confirms that a product has a problem covered by an applicable consumer guarantee, U Signs will reimburse reasonable return costs already paid by the customer where required by law.
If the product is found not to have a manufacturing fault or other problem for which U Signs is responsible, the customer may be responsible for reasonable inspection, collection, return and redelivery costs, provided those costs have been disclosed and are legally recoverable.
Freight Damage
Where possible, customers should inspect packaging and goods at delivery and note visible damage with the driver or freight provider.
Please retain the damaged product and its packaging until U Signs or the freight provider confirms whether they are required for inspection.
U Signs will assist with investigating freight damage and will provide any remedy required under applicable law. Customers should not be directed solely to the freight provider where U Signs remains legally responsible for resolving the matter.
Installation and Third-Party Work
U Signs is not responsible for damage or failure caused by:
- Installation performed incorrectly by an unauthorised third party.
- Modification, repair or alteration not approved by U Signs.
- Misuse, neglect, accidental damage or improper storage.
- Failure to follow installation, electrical, maintenance or usage instructions.
- Unsuitable surfaces, structures or site conditions that were not disclosed to U Signs.
- Incorrect measurements or specifications supplied by the customer or another party.
- Normal wear and tear or exposure beyond the product’s intended use.
These exclusions apply only to the extent that the relevant act, omission or condition caused or contributed to the problem. They do not exclude liability for a defect or failure for which U Signs is responsible under applicable law.
Approved Third-Party Installation
Where U Signs arranges or expressly approves an installer as part of the customer’s contract with U Signs, we will assess any issue concerning that installation in accordance with the contract and applicable law.
Where the customer separately engages an installer without U Signs arranging or approving that service, claims relating solely to the installer’s work should be directed to that installer.
Refund Processing
Approved refunds will generally be processed using the original payment method unless another method is agreed or reasonably required.
Bank and payment-provider processing times are outside our direct control. We will process an approved refund within a reasonable time and provide confirmation where available.
Voluntary and Manufacturer Warranties
Some products may include a separate voluntary or manufacturer warranty. Any such warranty is additional to, and does not replace, rights under the Australian Consumer Law.
The applicable warranty period and conditions may vary according to the product, materials, electrical components, installation method and intended environment.
Limitation of Liability Where Permitted by Law
Where goods or services are not of a kind ordinarily acquired for personal, domestic or household use or consumption, and where it is fair, reasonable and legally permitted, U Signs’ liability for failure to comply with an applicable consumer guarantee may be limited, at our option:
- For goods: to replacing the goods, supplying equivalent goods, repairing the goods, or paying the reasonable cost of replacement or repair.
- For services: to supplying the services again or paying the reasonable cost of having the services supplied again.
This limitation does not apply where it would be unlawful, unfair or unreasonable, and does not exclude liability that cannot legally be excluded.
